Wonder Woman Lassos A Prequel TV Series In DC Universe's New Project Slate
By DANIELLE RYAN
The new heads of DC Studios, James Gunn and Peter Safran, gave a presentation revealing the upcoming slate of projects in their new DC Comics cinematic universe called the DCU. One of the announcements was for a new prequel series called "Paradise Lost," which will focus on Themyscira, the island home of Wonder Woman and the Amazons.
The new series will be tonally different from the Patty Jenkins-directed films and will not likely feature Diana/Wonder Woman unless she's revealed to be the story's narrator. Gunn and Safran explained that their prequel show will be closer to "Game of Thrones" than "The Justice League" and will explore the beginnings of the Amazons' society and way of life.
Gunn shared, "It's an origin story, a way of 'How did this society of women come about?' What does it mean? What are their politics like? What are their rules? Who's in charge? What are all the games that they play with each other to get to the top?" There isn't much more information available, but "Paradise Lost" will likely be released on HBO's streaming service.
