Winona Ryder's One Condition To Play Joyce Byers On Stranger Things
By BEN PEARSON
Winona Ryder agreed to play Joyce Byers on "Stranger Things" with one condition: She must be allowed to participate in "Beetlejuice 2" if the long-awaited sequel came to fruition.
Ryder revealed in an interview that she and director Tim Burton were discussing ideas for the sequel to their 1988 film "Beetlejuice" when she was approached for the Netflix show.
"I remember at my first meeting with the Duffer Brothers, I said, 'As long as if "Beetlejuice 2" happens, you'll let me go do that," Ryder recalled. Fortunately, they obliged.
This agreement proved advantageous, as the production schedules for "Stranger Things" and "Beetlejuice 2" did not conflict, allowing Ryder to commit to both projects.
