William Shatner Shared A Sweet Connection With Star Trek’s Lt. Leslie
By JEREMY MATHAI
First appearing in the retooled pilot episode “Where No Man Has Gone Before,” Lieutenant Leslie appeared dozens of times throughout the three seasons of “Star Trek.”
Leslie was never more than a background role, with his actor Eddie Paskey serving as William Shatner’s double and stand-in. However, the two shared another connection.
The character was never named during his first several appearances until Shatner directly addressed Paskey in the Season 1 episode “The Conscience of the King” as “Mister Leslie.”
Paskey explained with Sci-Fi Bulletin that Leslie had familial meaning to Shatner. The actor shared, “I was named after his eldest daughter.”
