Will There Be A Sequel To Alien: Covenant? Here's What We Know

In 2012, Ridley Scott returned to the world of "Alien" with the prequel movie "Prometheus," and that story continued in 2017 with "Alien: Covenant." Scott has stated in multiple interviews his plans on keeping the story going from there, but the franchise has since been acquired by Disney with the purchase of 20th Century Fox — leaving the future uncertain.
As of right now, there is no movie on the horizon, but Disney is developing an "Alien" TV series with Noah Hawley for FX on Hulu. There’s also the matter of how well the last movie in the series performed at the box office.
The sequel "Alien: Covenant" brought in almost half the global box office as “Prometheus” with a similar budget, which means we were unlikely to see the prequels become a trilogy in the first place. We’ve also heard very little regarding another Ridley Scott "Alien" movie since 2020, and whether we ever get one may fall heavily on the shoulders of the new "Alien" TV show and its performance.
