Why The Bones Episode The Man In The Fallout Shelter Didn't Go As Planned

Season 1, Episode 9 of "Bones," titled "The Man in the Fallout Shelter," did not go as planned because it failed to meet its primary objective of reducing production costs.
The network wanted the show to cut expenses, so this episode was designed as a bottle show, which involves filming in one location with a limited cast to save money.
"We promised that we'd do a bottle show to get closer to what the budget number for the season was supposed to be," series creator Hart Hanson told "Bones: The Official Companion."
However, things didn't go as planned. "It was filmically so interesting that, by the time we added up the cost, it was as expensive as anything else we ever did," Hanson revealed.
