Why The A-Team Was Suddenly Canceled In The Middle Of A Season
By JEREMY SMITH
“The A-Team” captivated audiences with the concept of an Army unit unjustly accused of crimes they didn’t do, but that enthusiasm didn’t stay for long.
“The A-Team” was a top-ten Nielsen ratings show over its first three seasons. It ran on NBC’s Tuesday night 8 p.m. slot, which was family hour on primetime television.
The time slot kept the show family-friendly, but the audience’s tastes started to change in 1985 with the release of movies like “Rambo: First Blood Part II.”
Since “The A-Team” couldn’t show enemies getting shredded with uzis like Rambo, the show dropped to 61st in the Nielsen ratings, and NBC quickly pulled the plug.
