Why Star Trek Hasn't Introduced Geordi La Forge's Wife Yet
By WITNEY SEIBOLD
In “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” engineer Geordi La Forge fell in love with a holographic image of Dr. Leah Brahms, the designer of the Enterprise's engines.
In the “TNG” episode, "Galaxy's Child," Geordi got to meet the real Leah Brahms. Unfortunately, she was married, halting any romantic aspirations Geordi carried.
As Leah was not mentioned in "Picard," fans wondered if Geordi was still married to her. Showrunner Terry Matalas said in a Reddit AMA that he intentionally left that vague.
It seems that the primary reason Leah was not named in "Star Trek: Picard" was directly because of "Star Trek: Legacy,” Matalas' new series that Paramount didn't take.
Matalas was coy, saying, “We didn't identify so that we could tell that story in a future 'Legacy' tale. There is a name in mind. But it is not a character you've seen before."
