Why Reacher Skipped Over So Many Books For Season 2
By JOE ROBERTS
The popular Prime Video series “Reacher,” featuring Alan Ritchson as the character, is adapted from the extensive novel series by Lee Child, who has authored over 28 Reacher books.
Fans of the show and novel collection quickly noticed a substantial jump in the source material, with season 1 of “Reacher” drawing from different books compared to season 2.
Showrunner Nick Santora chose "Killing Floor" for season 1 because it is the first book in the series. He felt he could pick any book in the pack for season 2.
Santora made a significant leap, skipping ten novels and adapting “Bad Luck and Trouble” for season 2. It involves Reacher solving the deaths of his former Army unit members.
As per Empire magazine, Child concluded that “[...] there was no reason to do them in order.” He continued, “[Hollywood people] talk a lot, but they make sense in the end.”
Fortunately, this exploration allowed writers to delve more into Reacher's military past, showcasing his role as the leader of the Special Investigators without causing confusion.
