Why Dune Director Denis Villeneuve Has ‘Mixed Feelings’ About The Films
By DEBOPRIYAA DUTTA
Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune” and its sequel did what was thought impossible — created a faithful adaptation of Frank Herbert’s novel that was also the director’s unique work.
Villeneuve had dreamt of adapting “Dune” since his childhood. Although that dream has come true, the director’s feelings toward his work remain “mixed.”
He shared, “The first artist I approached was Hans Zimmer [...] I remember him asking me, ‘Is it a good idea to try to bring our childhood dreams to the screen?’”
While not all moments were how Villeneuve envisioned in his childhood dreams, the director added that he feels “blessed that I had the chance to make this adaptation.”
