Why Black Panther's Everett Ross Should Be Banned From The MCU
By SHANIA RUSSELL
"Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" explores a lot in its 2-hour and 41-minute run. However, one thing that should probably be cut is the time dedicated to Agent Everett Ross.
In the film, Ross hardly contributes to the plot. While the movie flips a classic troupe with the "token white guy," Ross does little to help and constantly needs rescue.
The "Black Panther" films also have numerous characters that would be more interesting to further explore and dedicate time to, such as Namora, M'Baku, and T'Challa II.
Ross seems to serve one purpose: to give the audience expositional information on what is happening. However, another character or a computer could also easily do this.
Marvel may have used Ross and the CIA to lay the foundation for future issues between Wakanda and the rest of the world over vibranium.
Ross also seems to be used to set up future projects, with "Wakanda Forever" exploring his relationship with Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.
While Agent Ross likely won't simply disappear from the MCU, many would prefer if "Black Panther 3" focuses more on the people and heroes of Wakanda.
