Why Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Became A Female-Driven Superhero Film
By ERIC VESPE
There are those that cry and moan and create social media videos any time they perceive their superhero/animated/sci-fi movies pushing a progressive agenda. This is almost always associated with women, particularly women of color, being at the forefront of a story.
The creators of "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever'' addressed the female-fronted sequel as the natural continuation of the story they've already set up. It makes sense that those hit hardest by T’Challa’s passing would be the ones he was closest to.
“To not highlight them would have been a disservice to the story,” which is ultimately about the grief of losing a loved one and how that can "unmoor" someone. T'Challa had surrounded himself with close family, protectors, and partners; all of whom just happened to be women.
