Why Auditioning For Wonder Woman Had Kristen Wiig Constantly Paranoid
By WITNEY SEIBOLD
"Wonder Woman 1984" is a bizarre, poorly written mess, but Kristen Wiig brings much energy to her role as a werecat. However, one aspect of the film made her nervous.
Wiig told Bazaar Magazine that the secrecy surrounding a DC superhero movie was overwhelming. She was paranoid when she recklessly said the film's title while on a phone call.
"Well, it was mysterious because I got a call from my agent who said, 'Patty Jenkins wants to talk to you, but [...] they won't say what the film or the role is.'" Wiig said.
"I was like, 'Is it "Wonder Woman?"' I had to sign an NDA to even talk to Patty," Wiig added. Wiig flew to London to test for the part but couldn't tell anyone.
Wiig said she was paranoid and told people she was going to London "for a thing." "I thought the Warner Brothers police would come knocking on my door," she said.
For the better part of 20 years, superhero films have been the most secretive productions in Hollywood, often circulating false scripts through the system to prevent spoilers.
