What To Remember Before Watching Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire

The MonsterVerse is back with “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.” While the franchise has been relatively straightforward, there are some aspects to remember for the film.
Hollow Earth
One of MonsterVerse’s strangest concepts is the Hollow Earth, an ecosystem full of Titans and other giant creatures accessible through various portals.
Hollow Earth’s portals are crucial to “Godzilla x Kong” and “Godzilla: King of the Monsters” as they allow the Titans to invade Earth, including Ghidorah from the latter film.
Iwi and Skull Island
During “King of the Monsters,” viewers learn that King Ghidorah sunk Skull Island to the bottom of the sea, killing the Iwi people and destroying Kong’s home.
The new film will play into Kong’s loneliness after losing his home and the Iwi people. However, Kong isn’t the only survivor; a young girl named Jia is also with him.
The Team
Several humans from “Godzilla vs Kong” are also returning, including Kong expert Dr. Ilene Andrews and Titan conspiracy podcaster and blogger Bernie Hayes.
At the end of “Godzilla vs Kong,” Monarch establishes an outpost in the Hollow Earth to monitor Titans. Kong rules over Hollow Earth while Godzilla remains on the surface.
