Tom Holland Flat-Out Refused One Marvel Request For Spider-Man: No Way Home
By WITNEY SEIBOLD
As Sony and MCU's Spider-Man, actor Tom Holland encountered challenges web-slinging directly from filming “Uncharted” to “Spider-Man: No Way Home.”
The filmmakers of “No Way Home” noticed a disparity in Holland's appearance. His Nathan Drake hairdo wasn’t consistent with what had been filmed a few years prior.
Not only did the hairdo have to match, but production was beholden to a specific master aesthetic that runs through the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Director Jon Watts considered giving Holland a fitted wig to address this issue. In a 2021 Esquire interview, however, Holland said he adamantly declined to wear it.
Holland said his hair was shaved at the sides and slick at the back — not a Peter Parker look. “So they put this wig on me that was just around the sides," the actor explained.
Pushing back for the first time as an actor, Holland said, “'I'm not f***ing wearing that wig. I'm going to have shorter hair and you're going to have to deal with it.'"
