Tom Hardy Had A Trial By Fire With Black Hawk Down & Band Of Brothers
By JOSHUA MEYER
Before Tom Hardy became a household name with his films like “Inception,” the actor began his career with two consecutive projects: “Band of Brothers” and “Black Hawk Down.”
The actor took on the role of a real World War II soldier, John Janovec, for two episodes of “Band of Brothers” in his first TV appearance, though there were challenges.
Hardy shared he didn’t have experience performing in front of a camera, adding, “‘Band of Brothers’ was my first job so I was virtually out of the frying pan and into the fire.”
Following his stint on “Band of Brothers,” Hardy would make his film debut, playing a soldier fighting in the Battle of Mogadishu in “Black Hawk Down.”
Since he was playing the still-living Army Ranger Lance Twombly, Hardy felt responsible to do the veteran’s story justice, and didn’t want to treat the film as his “big moment.”
