To Save Theaters This Is How Many Movies You Need To See A Year
By RYAN SCOTT
Ticket sales for 2024 have been far worse than the previous year, with little hope of improvement and leaving some wondering what it would take to revitalize the box office.
From 2009 to 2019, the box office exceeded $10 billion yearly. According to The Numbers, the current average cost of a movie ticket in the U.S. is $10.78.
The number of tickets that would need to be sold is 927,643,785 a year. There are about 269 million eligible moviegoers in the U.S., so each person would need to buy 3.44 tickets.
Since a person can’t see half a movie, the average person would need to see three or four movies in theaters each year to return to pre-pandemic era numbers.
