The Wild Reason For Willem Dafoe’s Body Double In Antichrist
By WITNEY SEIBOLD
While Lars Von Trier's 2009 drama "Antichrist" follows a couple as they lose themselves to depression, sex and sexuality are pervasive themes throughout the film.
Much of the drama comes from the two leads' sexual relationship, requiring full nudity from both actors. One of the first scenes is a closeup of sexual penetration.
Body doubles were used for various reasons, including both stars being married. However, there was another reason in particular for leading man, Willem Dafoe: his penis is too big.
In an interview with Dazed, Dafoe shared, “Lars used a porn actor for those scenes. It was a good decision because, if it was me, then that’s all that people would talk about.”
In a Boston Phoenix interview, Von Trier confirmed, “He has an enormous d***. [...] We had a stand-in for him because we had to take the scenes out with his own d***.”
