The Two Aspects Of Andor That Made Andy Serkis Decide To Return To Star Wars
By JENNA BUSCH
Spoiler Warning!
This story contains spoilers for Season 1 of “Andor.”
Andy Serkis once again returned to the “Star Wars” universe, trading his motion-captured Supreme Leader Snoke role of the sequel trilogy for the live-action Kino Loy in the Disney+ series, “Andor,” and delivering a heart-wrenching performance. The actor spoke about his thoughts on the “Star Wars” universe and his decision to return to the franchise.
Impressed by “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” and the storytelling potential of the “Star Wars” universe, Serkis said, “What is so brilliant about this franchise and this universe is that it can allow for that amount of humanity to really come through in ‘Rogue One.’” While “Star Wars” typically centers on the Jedi and the Force, “Rogue One” and “Andor” focuses on regular people.
Serkis also shared his admiration for his co-star: “[Diego Luna] was another very strong reason why I wanted to do this because I really love Diego’s acting, and I love Cassian as a character. So to have a chance to really intimately get to work together was incredible.” Although Kino Loy’s fate is still unconfirmed, there may still be a chance for him to reunite with Cassian.
