The Three Oscar Nominees Who Have Voiced Maggie On The Simpsons
By DEVIN MEENAN
Supremely talented voice actors have made each member of “The Simpsons” recognizable, even the almost-silent perennial infant Maggie, who’s been voiced by three Oscar nominees.
Most of Maggie's baby sounds are provided by Nancy Cartwright (who mainly plays older brother Bart) but on the rare occasions when she speaks, some big stars stood behind her.
In season 2’s “Bart vs Thanksgiving,” Maggie’s single line, “It's your fault I can't talk,” was voiced by an uncredited Carol Kane (Pelia on “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds”).
The episode “Lisa's First Word” in season 4 ends with Maggie saying her first word, “Daddy.” Which was performed by none other than Hollywood legend Elizabeth Taylor.
Then, in the season 20 episode “Four Great Women and a Manicure,” Maggie’s speech about why she refuses to conform, given in her adult voice, is acted by Jodie Foster.
Between Taylor, Kane, and Foster, there are four Oscar wins and 11 nominations. Kane has one Best Actress nomination, and Taylor and Foster have each won Best Actress twice.
