The Sopranos Death The Entire Cast Desperately Tried To Prevent

As far as television dramas go, "The Sopranos" set a standard that few series manage to meet. Still, not everything the writers did was met with unanimous praise.
The show's legacy was that you never knew who was going to be offed in an episode. Its six-season run saw almost 100 people killed by Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini) and his crew.
Sometimes, the writers were begged not to kill off certain characters, like a significant season two death that established the show's reputation for offing characters with ease.
Lorraine Bracco, who played psychiatrist Jennifer Melfi on the show, said the cast begged creator David Chase not to kill Salvatore Bonpensiero (Vincent Pastore), aka "Big Pussy."
Chase told Empire Magazine that he promised to bring Pastore back in flashbacks. "That death had a big imprint on the show. It said to the audience: no-one's safe," he added.
