The Season One Episode That Spelled Doom For Star Trek: Enterprise
By WITNEY SEIBOLD
In the book "The Fifty-Year Mission: The Next 25 Years: From The Next Generation to J. J. Abrams," co-creator Brannon Braga admitted "Star Trek: Enterprise" was a failure.
By the first season's sixth episode, Braga knew "Enterprise" was going in the wrong direction. He has a "story by" credit on "Terra Nova" and recalls the episode with dismay.
Braga felt that "Enterprise" started well enough and was different from "Star Trek: Voyager" or "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," but it was quickly becoming very similar.
The episode isn't as terrible as Braga describes, but it contained a story that could have been told on any of the "Trek" shows; it didn't need "Enterprise" to function.
