The Reason Breakdown Left Kurt Russell In Serious Pain

In an interview with Metrograph, director Jonathan Mostow talked about being late in the shoot of “Breakdown” when Kurt Russell made a surprising confession.
“Kurt told me, ‘I'm in pain. I'm in physical pain making this film,'” Mostow recalled. He added that Russell didn’t understand why, but his shoulder and neck hurt.
Russell's character takes a beating throughout the movie, but these are nothing like the ones he takes in the John Carpenter actioners he’s starred in, or "Tango & Cash."
Mostow recounted, "He realized it's the character [...] I kind of kept this to myself, but my immediate thought was, 'Yeah, because you're playing me in this thing.”
