The Pitfall Peter Dinklage Hopes House Of Dragons Can Avoid
By JEREMY MATHAI
The talented Peter Dinklage has never shied away from making headlines, whether he's taking a stand against harmful depictions of little people or defending the "Game of Thrones" finale. Dinklage's latest comments bring him back to Westeros, as he expresses his hope that HBO's prequel/spinoff "House of the Dragon" avoids one major obstacle.
While it's easy to dismiss the impact of "Game of Thrones" due to its divisive ending, the show and the book series it's based on continue to have a massive influence on the fantasy genre. Dinklage is worried that this massive prestige could actually be a drawback, if "House of the Dragon" follows its predecessor too closely.
Dinklage explained, "I think the trick is not to try to recreate 'Thrones.' If you try to recreate it, that feels like a money grab. With a lot of sequels, the reason for them is that the first one made a lot of money, which is why they aren't as strong." Audiences will see if "House of the Dragon" is a unique experience or a copy of "Game of Thrones" on August 21, 2022.
