The Only Surviving Stars Of I Dream Of Jeannie
By JEREMY SMITH
Barbara Eden was tailor-made to play the part of Jeannie. She struck a perfect balance between wide-eyed innocence and irrepressible mischievousness.
Though Tony (Larry Hagman) was technically her master, Jeannie grew more independent as the sitcom wore on, leaving him altogether in the final season.
Before "I Dream of Jeannie," Eden starred opposite Elvis Presley in "Flaming Star" and Paul Newman in "From the Terrace." Her biggest movie success was "Harper Valley PTA."
On TV, Eden reprised her "PTA" role in a series spin-off, played Joe Namath's love interest in the all-star lark "Chattanooga Choo-Choo," and reunited with Hagman on "Dallas."
The only surviving star of "I Dream of Jeannie," Eden turned 92 in 2023 and, aside from voicework of diary entries for YouTube, wrote the book, "Barbara and the Djinn."
