The Only Surviving Stars Of Francis Ford Coppola’s The Conversation
By JEREMY SMITH
Francis Ford Coppola's "The Conversation" is a paranoid thriller about surveillance expert Harry Caul (Gene Hackman), who is convinced he has recorded evidence of a murder plot.
Coppola assembled a first-rate cast, we've lost some over the years, like John Cazale and Cindy Williams, but many of the key players are still with us.
Elizabeth MacRae
Elizabeth MacRae is a boozily charming delight as Meredith. She appeared in TV classics like "Rawhide," "Kojak," and "Rhoda," but retired in the 1990s.
Harrison Ford
The man who would be Han Solo, Indiana Jones, Jack Ryan, and Jack Stanfield was still an up-and-coming actor when Coppola cast him as the untrustworthy Martin Stett.
After bidding farewell to our favorite archaeologist in 2023, he's gracefully segued to TV as Jacob Dutton in the "Yellowstone" prequel "1923" and Dr. Paul Rhoades on "Shrinking."
Robert Duvall
As the shadowy business executive called The Director, Robert Duvall doesn't have much to do in "The Conversation," but his presence speaks volumes.
Duvall received seven Academy Award nominations over his 62 year career. At 93, he's still acting with recent releases in "Hustle," "The Pale Blue Dot," and "The Ploughmen."
