The Only Cheers Star That Refused To Appear In Frasier
By JEREMY SMITH
“Frasier” had occasional cameos from the old drinking buddies on “Cheers,” as nearly every living cast member found their way onto at least one episode, but there was one holdout.
Kirstie Alley, who played businesswoman Rebecca Howe on “Cheers” (as Ted Danson’s sparring partner replacement for Shelley Long), allegedly wanted absolutely no part of “Frasier.”
Alley never went on record about her reluctance to be on “Frasier,” but it is believed that, as a practicing Scientologist, she could not be in a series about a psychiatrist.
The Church of Scientology preaches that psychiatry is an absolute evil. Unfortunately, Alley passed away in 2022 from colon cancer, so she’s no longer able to dispute this theory.
