The One Word That Best Describes Denis Villeneuve's Vision For Dune
By VALERIE ETTENHOFER
Denis Villeneuve is working on the third “Dune” movie and will follow an important character: Lady Jessica. However, co-writer Eric Roth asked the director to sum up his vision.
According to “The Art and Soul of Dune” by Tanya Lapointe, Denis answered simply: “Women.” He had a lot to say about the sisterhood of Bene Gesserit because they guide humanity.
“[Women in ‘Dune’] think of future outcomes rather than immediate results,” Denis is quoted as saying. He added, “They lead by influence instead of domination.”
The filmmaker stands by this today: in an interview with Den of Geek in February, he confirmed that “women” was his keyword for the adaptation when planning with Roth.
