The One It’s Always Sunny Episode Fans Resoundingly Rejected
By DANIELLE RYAN
In Season 7 of “It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” the episode titled “Frank's Brother” stands out as one of the most resoundingly rejected episodes by fans of the beloved series.
“Frank’s Brother” explores Frank’s untold past, specifically Frank’s relationship with his brother, Gino, and Shadynasty, the lounge singer at the club Frank and Gino own together.
Unlike fans, Rob McElhenney shared with Deadline that he thought the episode was actually fiercely funny, as did co-writers, producers, and stars Charlie Day and Glenn Howerton.
The humor revolves around Danny DeVito's portrayal of Frank as a younger man, complete with a questionable wig, and includes moments that touch on the challenges of civil rights.
Lance Reddick guest appears as Reggie, whose absurd stereotypes of black individuals prevalent in the pop culture of the 1960s and 1970s gained poor feedback from fans of the show.
McElhenney, who loved the episode, gave unsatisfied fans advice: “Some people say they’ve gone back and watched it a second time years later and appreciate it so much more.”
