The MPAA Rating For Thor: Love And Thunder Features A Marvel First
By ERIN BRADY
The July 8th release of the Taika Waititi-directed “Thor: Love and Thunder” will feature a Marvel movie first – a PG-13 rating by the MPAA for “partial nudity.” After having a sex scene in “Eternals” and a higher-than-usual body count in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” Marvel movies seem to finally be treading into more adult themes.
The partial nudity in question is teased in the “Love and Thunder" trailer, where there is a brief — albeit blurred — shot of a naked, restrained Thor. While the nudity warning is a milestone for the MCU, it is actually not the first time a Marvel superhero was shown without clothes.
In Waititi’s first Thor movie, "Thor: Ragnarok," the audience can clearly see Hulk’s buttcrack in the scene where Thor is trying to convince him to turn back into Bruce Banner. While it was the first official shot of nudity in the MCU, it seems like the MPAA didn’t consider the Hulk’s butt to be a real one.
