The Most Confusing Scene In A Quiet Place: Day One, Explained
By BILL BRIA
“A Quiet Place: Day One” director Michael Sarnoski has kept the film's focus on the human characters, but he also manages to reveal new things about the creatures.
When protagonist Eric (Joseph Quinn) and a cat (Frodo) venture into a ruined skyscraper, they witness the creatures feasting on egg-like sacs they've clearly had a hand in making.
This confusing scene is reminiscent of James Cameron's “Aliens,” where Sigourney Weaver's Ripley discovers that the Xenomorphs have a queen who lays the eggs.
However, these creatures are not laying any eggs of their own, but are using their human victims to make their own food.
The aspect of the creatures using humans to grow their own food, and how it ties into the series as a whole, was the real point of including this new bit of lore.
The scene honors the “Quiet Place” tradition of world-building in the margins of the film, making this franchise stand out from the rest.
