Spoiler Warning!
This story contains spoilers for
"The Mandalorian" Season 3 and "Star Wars: Rebels" Finale.
"The Mandalorian" Season 3 cameo of a hulking furry Lasat, Garazeb Orellios (voiced again by Steve Blum), excited "Star Wars Rebels" viewers.
While Zeb’s appearance strengthened hopes for other “Rebels” characters to appear in the live-action “Ahsoka” series, it does risk diluting “The Mandalorian’s” distinct identity.
Zeb, a loyal Spectre of the Ghost crew, had a complicated arc in “Rebels,” involving his guilt over the Empire’s decimation of his home planet, Lasan.
His relationship with Imperial agent Kallus, who participated in the Lasats’ genocide, became a friendship as Zeb’s understanding grew while Kallus spied for the Rebellion.
Rebels' conclusion upset fans with an unsatisfying focus on Kallus' guilt & redemption, favoring his view over Zeb's, lacking balance in character development.
While emotional and nostalgic, Zeb’s cameo in “The Mandalorian” raises questions about his role in the New Republic military and his relationship with Kallus.
Considering the potential for the Ghost crew’s stories to continue in “Ahsoka” and “The Mandalorian,” fans hope for a more satisfying resolution to Zeb’s story in “Star Wars.”
