The Mandalorian S3’s Commandant Hux Ties the Show to the Star Wars Sequels
By BRYAN YOUNG
“The Mandalorian” Chapter 23 featured a new character, Commandant Brendol Hux, who creates a direct connection with the “Star Wars” sequel trilogy.
Brian Gleeson, who plays Brendol Hux, is the brother of Domnhall Gleeson, who plays General Hux in the sequels. This is no coincidence, as the characters are also related.
Brendol Hux once served in the Empire training stormtroopers, but after the events of the original trilogy, he became one of the founders of the First Order.
At some point before the rise of the First Order, Brendol had his illegitimate son Armitage, who would grow up to become General Hux.
Brendol survived into his sixties but was betrayed and poisoned by Phasma, a stormtrooper he trained himself, as detailed in the novel "Phasma" by Delilah Dawson.
It’s unclear exactly how important Commandant Hux will be in “The Mandalorian,” but it’s exciting to see the direct ties between the Disney+ series and the movies.
