The House Of The Dragon Question Everyone's Asking About Laenor Velaryon
By RAFAEL MOTAMAYOR
In Season 2 of "House of the Dragon," audiences see Seasmoke the dragon chasing after Addam of Hull and forcing him to accept his role as a new dragonrider.
The problem is that Seasmoke was already bonded with Laenor Velaryon, who is said to have died in "Fire & Blood." In the show, Laenor faked his death and left Westeros in secret.
It's believed that dragons can only bond with one person at a time, and can't bond with another as long as that rider is alive. This implies Laenor died off-screen.
The dragon may be acting up in grief over the death of Laenor, as dragons have been shown to have reactions to their riders' death or even just their pain and emotions.
However, the idea that a dragon can only have one rider comes from the maester narrators. Laenor could still be alive, with Seasmoke simply wanting a new rider.
