The Great British Baking Show Host Matt Lucas Is Exiting The Series

Matt Lucas co-host of "The Great British Baking Show" (aka "The Great British Bake Off" in the U.K.) posted to his Twitter account on December 6th, that he’ll be leaving the reality series after three seasons. Lucas of "Little Britain" and "Doctor Who" fame, replaced host Sandi Toksvig when she left the series in early 2020.
His statement read, in part, “Farewell Bake Off! It's been a delicious experience and I can't imagine a more fun way of spending my summers, but it's become clear to me that I can't present both 'Fantasy Football League' and 'Bake Off' alongside all my other projects.”
Lucas’ departure will be welcomed news to some fans who have recently taken to social media to complain about the reality competition’s focus on Lucas and Noel Fielding’s skits rather than the actual baking. Perhaps his exit will be part of a greater effort on behalf of the program to return to basics.
