The Friends Subplot Matthew Perry Flat Out Refused To Film

Late actor Matthew Perry played Chandler Bing through many storylines in “Friends,” but there is one season 7 plot that Perry refused to do.
The plot was so mystifying and problematic to the actor that he asked to have it removed entirely from “The One with Joey’s Award.” It ended up being a smart decision.
When it was first written, the plot included Ross spotting Chandler leaving a male strip club. This nonexistent plot is mentioned in the synopsis for the episode on Netflix.
In 2017, Perry revealed on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen” that the idea was for Chandler to be there because he loved the sandwiches.
The actor did not give specifics as to why he didn’t want to do it. One would believe that he understood the anxiety-ridden Chandler going there made no sense for his character.
