The Fox Network Bones Crossover We Never Got To See

Hart Hanson's Fox crime procedural “Bones” is known for its grounded yet entertaining approach, but that approach was strained in the show’s crossover with “Sleepy Hollow.”
The crossover had “Bones” Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz) team up with “Sleepy Hollow's” Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) and Abbie Mills (Nicole Beharie).
Five years prior to the “Sleepy Hollow” crossover, Hanson revealed that “Bones” had come close to crossing over with another Fox crime procedural series, Samuel Baum's “Lie to Me.”
“Bones” drew from forensic anthropologist Kathy Reichs, who also wrote the novel series. In a similar vein, “Lie to Me” was based on psychologist Paul Ekma’s work on lie detection.
It starred Tim Roth as Dr. Cal Lightman, who used his expertise in interpreting body language and microexpressions to detect lies and assist in criminal investigations.
Despite Hanson telling Entertainment Weekly, “We'll see if the network wants it,” Fox never pursued it because of a large drop in audience ratings between seasons of “Lie to Me.”
