The Forgotten 2016 Fantasy Epic That Blew Up Netflix's Top Movie Charts
By JOE ROBERTS
The 2016 fantasy epic "Warcraft," is an adaptation of the video game series of the same name. Directed and co-written by Duncan Jones, has made a surprising resurgence on Netflix.
Initially released to a lukewarm reception — with a 29% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a box office performance that barely broke even — "Warcraft" seemed destined to be forgotten.
However, after debuting on Netflix on July 1, 2024, the film quickly climbed the charts, reaching the number two spot in the United States by July 3, according to FlixPatrol.
Although "Warcraft" slipped to number three by July 5 and number five by July 9, this mini-renaissance is notable for a largely forgotten film that was released eight years ago.
