The DS9 Cameo Star Trek: Voyager’s Writers Came To Regret

Aron Eisenberg was already known to Trekkies as Nog, the Ferengi teen on "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" when he appeared on “Voyager” as Kar, a Kazon teenager.
Eisenberg was 26 when he filmed "Voyager," but his youthful features and boyish voice allowed him to play adolescents for many years. Unfortunately, he was immensely recognizable.
In the book "Captains' Logs: The Unauthorized Complete Trek Voyages,” scriptwriter Jeri Taylor noted Trekkies would have trouble relating to Kar if all they saw was Nog.
Despite Eisenberg’s familiar face, Taylor said, "Aron is great and we cast him because the boys that we read weren't able to bring the richness and depth that we wanted."
