The Collector's Fate In Avengers: Infinity War Has Finally Been Revealed
By HANNAH SHAW-WILLIAMS
The Collector (Benicio del Toro), made his debut in a post-credits scene of "Thor: The Dark World," where the Asgardians made the arguably unwise decision to entrust him with the red Aether, or Reality Stone. However, his love of rare, shiny objects came back to bite him in "Avengers: Infinity War," when Thanos arrived in the mining colony of Knowhere to collect said stone.
It was later revealed that Thanos had destroyed the Collector's entire collection and burned his home to the ground, leaving most to assume he met his fate at the hands of the mad Titan. However, "The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special" has brought us a bit of Christmas cheer by confirming that the Collector and his dramatic gestures are still alive and well, somewhere out there.
After Kraglin tells the story of how Yondu stole Christmas, Nebula comments, "Ever since buying Knowhere from the Collector, we don't have time for trivialities like Christmas." At this point, we don't know if del Toro's colorful character will return to the MCU, but at least this small hint leaves the door open, as it suggests he survived the ordeal and was able to sell his home to the Guardians.
