The Cast Of Mad Max: Fury Road Were Constantly ‘Choking’ On Dirt
By RAFAEL MOTAMAYOR
Although “Mad Max: Fury Road” would turn out to be a fantastic movie, it faced countless issues throughout its entire production time, one of which was the weather.
After changing the main shooting location from New South Wales to the Namibian desert, the cast and crew struggled with the sands of the new site.
According to writer Kelly Marcel in the book, “Blood, Sweat & Chrome. The Wild and True Story of Mad Max: Fury Road,” everyone was “choking on dust” due to the sands.
The sand also caused visibility issues. Stunt driver Eugene Arendsen shared, “After every single take, both my eyes were completely full of sand, and I could barely see.”
Director George Miller told special effects supervisor Andy Williams that “dust is our friend.” While the sand caused many issues, it did result in some amazing cinematography.
