The Cast Of Bones Included Real-Life Family Members Of The Stars
By SANDY SCHAEFER
In a Christmas-centric "Bones" episode, Brennan's (Emily Deschanel) second cousin, Margaret Whitesell, is played by her real-life sister, Zooey Deschanel.
"Bones" subtly incorporated other members of the cast and crew's family. Notably, Emily’s father, Caleb Deschanel, directed season 2's "The Glowing Bones in 'The Old Stone House.'"
Co-star David Boreanaz's father (real-life TV broadcaster Dave Roberts) made an uncredited cameo as an FBI agent in the show's landmark 100th episode, which his son directed.
He would later return, this time credited as David T. Boreanaz, as a news reporter for the series finale, with his son once again calling the shots.
Boreanaz told Live that his mother, Patti Boreanaz, passed him a file in the series finale, and his wife, Jaime, and his son, Jaden, were in the show’s twelfth season.
Even Boreanaz's daughter Bella and Deschanel's son Henry had roles in season 11. Her husband, David Hornsby, played Father Harrow, the priest at her wedding rehearsal.
The show's production team confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that creator Hart Hanson's father, Paul Hanson, had shown up as "a vending machine repairman" in season 4.
During his Live appearance, Boreanaz said it was "great" to have relatives appear on the show, adding that it had "a family environment" behind the scenes.
