The Boys Based Firecracker On A Sitting US Congresswoman
By VALERIE ETTENHOFER
Season 4 of "The Boys" introduces the audience to Firecracker, portrayed by Valorie Curry. This new character is inspired by Marjorie Taylor Greene, a current U.S. Congresswoman.
Series showrunner Eric Kripke reveals the origin of the born-again Christian Supe in an interview, saying, "Firecracker came from like, 'Hey, isn't Marjorie Taylor Greene scary?'"
He explains that the character embodies an extremist type of personality that has been increasingly prominent since Donald Trump became the President of the U.S. in 2016.
Kripke opines that while Trump initiated a certain style of politics, it has since been adopted and exaggerated by his followers, whom he refers to as "Trump spawn."
The show draws a clear parallel between Firecracker and Greene, emphasizing their shared traits of outrageous behavior, hateful extremism, and spreading misinformation.
