The Biggest Lesson Blade Runner 2049 Taught Dune Director Denis Villeneuve
By WITNEY SEIBOLD
Denis Villeneuve's "Blade Runner 2049" is a sequel to Ridley Scott's "Blade Runner." Creating a follow-up to another director's work taught Villeneuve a valuable lesson.
Villenueve's artistry is unique and striking, but he told the Hollywood Reporter he was concerned about how his sequel would compare to the master stylist Ridley Scott.
A huge fan of the original "Blade Runner," Villeneuve drove himself a little crazy worrying. Although Scott had given him his blessing on the sequel, he wanted to impress him.
The experience taught him never to dabble with another filmmaker's world again. "I still wake up sometimes at night, saying, 'Why did I do that?' Villeneuve said.
