5. Empok Nor
The "Deep Space Nine" episode unfolds like a slasher movie in space. The four Redshirts feel as much like teenagers targeted by Michael Myers or Jason Voorhees.
Garak is a weak link, however, as the episode turns him into a villain, justifying it with the Cardassians on Empok Nor having experimented with a drug to amp up xenophobia.

This "Star Trek: The Original Series" episode feels like a successful second go of "The Man Trap." "The Devil in the Dark" is more atmospheric and ultimately more complex.
