Cujo
Released in 1983, "Cujo" is an adaptation of Stephen King's 1981 novel of the same name. It tells the story of a St. Bernard who goes rabid and starts terrorizing people.
While it was low-budget, the author told Rolling Stone, "Cujo' is terrific." In the 1986 book, "Stephen King at the Movies," King stated that "Cujo" was his favorite adaptation.
King famously hates Stanley Kubrick's adaptation of "The Shining," but the writer was impressed with Mike Flanagan's work on the sequel story, "Doctor Sleep."
Flanagan managed to remain faithful to King's "Doctor Sleep" while acknowledging Kubrick's "The Shining." King praised Flanagan's ability to do so, telling EW, "I liked it a lot."
Although some fans feel that "Dolores Claiborne" is King's most underrated movie, King himself told Rolling Stone, "'Dolores Claiborne' is a really, really good film."
The film hosts fantastic performances from Kathy Bates, David Strathairn, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Christopher Plummer, as well as a haunting score from Danny Elfman.
Starring Tom Hanks and Michael Clarke Duncan, "The Green Mile" follows the story of several prison guards' experiences with an innocent convict with magical powers.
The story follows a romance novelist who gets held hostage by a woman who claims to be his number-one fan. King told Rolling Stone, "'Misery' is a great film."
