The Batman Director Matt Reeves is Planning Movies About the Dark Knight’s Villains
By ERIN BRADY
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the relationship between Warner Bros. and DC is still going strong. Matt Reeves is in full discussion with writers and directors about numerous “Batman” spinoffs, centering on Gotham’s rogues, and while none are presently greenlit, the director’s expansion of Gotham is teeming with potential.
These potential movies and series involve popular and lesser-known Batman villains alike, with Scarecrow, Professor Pyg, and Clayface being of significant note. This could see Reeves introduce fantastical elements as his realistic and gritty, yet heightened and uncanny Gotham expands.
Reeves hasn’t been shy about his desire to create what he calls a "Batverse," with Gotham teaming with the hero's greatest villains. "The Batman" was his first step, and while it’s likely that some of these projects being discussed won’t materialize, Gotham’s story is just beginning.
