The 13 Most Brutal Deaths In Game Of Thrones

Spoiler Warning!
This story contains spoilers for "Game of Thrones."
1. Ned Stark
Though there are plenty of indicators throughout Season 1 about what kind of show "Game of Thrones" is, it isn't really until Ned Stark is executed that it actually sinks in. Viewers have been conditioned by years of storytelling to expect the "good guys" to win, but his death pulled the rug right out from under their feet and sent a clear message: nobody is safe.
2. Lady
Just like Sansa Stark, her direwolf Lady is also pretty, dignified, and way too trusting. Sadly, she had to die even though she didn't do anything wrong, but what makes her death even worse is that she is put down by Ned Stark, a man she completely trusts.
3. Talisa Stark
Even though George R. R. Martin's books had prepared fans for what would transpire at the Red Wedding, the level of brutality was shocking. Most of it centered around Talisa Stark, Robb Stark's young bride, who isn't even at the Red Wedding in the books, but in the show, a pregnant Talisa is repeatedly stabbed in the belly with a dagger.
4. Rickon Stark
Rickon Stark is a toddler when the show starts and grows up mostly off-screen, most likely in adverse conditions, but just when there is a flicker of hope for him to be reunited with his siblings, he is brutally killed by Ramsay Bolton. His death is quick and not particularly bloody, but it feels like defeat being snatched from the jaws of victory.
5. Rodrik Cassel
Rodrik Cassel, the master-at-arms at Winterfell, dies one of the ugliest deaths on the show, and it comes at the hands of someone he trained, Theon Greyjoy, who makes a complete mess of it. It takes Greyjoy four sword swings at Cassel to do the job, and the head still needs a good kick to come off.
