Tarantino Says This Spielberg Classic is 'The Greatest Movie Ever Made'
By ERIN BRADY
Whether you love or hate Quentin Tarantino, there’s no denying that the director loves films, with his latest movie, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” being a love letter to the medium. During an episode of the ReelBlend podcast, Tarantino shared what he believes is the greatest movie: “Jaws.”
"I think Jaws is the greatest movie ever made. Maybe not the greatest film. But it's the greatest movie ever made,” said Tarantino. While many would consider “Jaws” one of the greatest of all time, there is some debate about whether it’s classified as a “movie” or “film” — Tarantino firmly places “Jaws” in the movie category, but that shouldn't underscore how much he loves the classic.
Tarantino argued that while movies that Steven Spielberg and others grew up watching, like “Journey to the Center of the Earth” and “Fantastic Voyage,” are moviemaking hallmarks, they could have been directed better. However, the director praised Spielberg, saying, “This is exactly the kind of movie he was put on Earth to make. And he's going to make it, within an inch of his life, as effective as it possibly can be.”
