Succession's Brian Cox on Managing to Keep Logan's Death a Secret
By ANDREW HOUSMAN
Spoiler Warning!
This story contains spoilers for "Succession" Season 4, Episode 3.
Though there are still seven episodes left in the season, the latest episode of HBO’s “Succession” featured a shocking event that was kept entirely secret from the public.
In the latest episode, Brian Cox’s Logan Roy met his untimely demise. Despite filming in public locations, the show and Cox kept this secret until the episode aired.
While Logan has had intermittent health issues throughout the series, his death came suddenly, with even Cox telling the NY Times, "Well, that's a bit early."
While showrunner Jesse Armstrong wanted to shoot a dummy scene of Logan appearing at the funeral to fake out the press, the crew said it wasn’t worth interrupting production.
However, Cox ignored the call telling him not to show up at the church and attended the shooting of the funeral scene anyway, fooling everyone into thinking Logan survived.
Cox later stated, "If I hadn't come, they would've gone, it's Logan's funeral. And I was the one who took that responsibility. They didn't even think of it. They were so rushed."
