Succession Didn’t Fake Greg & Tom’s Finale Bathroom Brawl
By DANIELLE RYAN
Spoiler Warning!
The following story contains spoilers for the series finale of “Succession.”
Tom and Greg have had their fair share of tussles in HBO’s “Succession,” but nothing compares to the final throwdown they had in the series finale, “With Open Eyes.”
Matthew Macfadyen, who plays Tom, revealed to Variety that the fight looked incredibly real because it was — he and Nicholas Braun, who portrays Greg, hit one another with force.
In the finale, Tom discovers that Greg massively betrayed him by calling Kendall (Jeremy Strong) and telling him about Tom being named the new CEO of Waystar-Royco.
Tom and Greg end up physically fighting one another over Greg’s treachery, slapping and wrestling in the restroom before Tom straightens his hair and walks back out.
About the brawl, Macfadyen recalled, “We had a stunt coordinator, but we just decided to go for it and hit each other. It was really good fun. [...] That was real slapping.”
He added, “I trust Nick implicitly, and vice versa. He really hit me — you can see my shock, because he just conks me on the face. He slaps me on the face in that take they used.”
